I guess this record sparked some controversy for its time because of Nyna's lyrics to the A-side, she explains in an MRR interview:
"The problem we're having with the song is, it's not the black people, or the Mexicans that dislike the song, it's the white upper class spoiled rotten Berkeley liberals that hate it and hate us, because they're really into guilt and all that kinda shit... The critics missed the point of the song. I was trying to point out that it's dangerous living in the city, especially if you are a woman. It's even worse if you look like a 'punk rocker'. The VKTMS aren't racist, that's ridiculous! We aren't trendy or political, our music doesn't NEED a soapbox to make it stand out. If you look at the racial backgrounds of the band members, the VKTMS are more diverse than many of our contemporaries. It's about time to put all the unnecessary remarks to rest."
Anyhow, this record isn't nearly as good as the first 7" but is worth listening to. The B-side is pretty wild and kind of shows what direction the band was heading in, this is where I began to lose interest. I got this record from a personal collector in Allentown, PA on tour. He sold it to me really cheap, I was pumped!
